A Pivotal Moment – Join us!

National Immigrant Integration Conference (NIIC) 2016 – WE THE PEOPLE -- co-hosted by the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) and the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) will take place at a seminal moment just weeks after the U.S. Presidential elections and in the new policy landscape shaped by the historic U.S. Supreme Court decision in U.S. v Texas. And, For the first time, NIIC, the largest immigration-related conference in the country, will be held in one of America’s “new gateway cities” where the next chapter of our nation’s immigration story is being written. Registration is open! Join us!

THE MOMENT

NIIC 2016 in Nashville, the fastest growing immigrant city in the United States, a leading“new gateway city”and model for welcoming immigrants and refugees, NIIC 2016 will take place in a real turning point moment for immigration. A new U.S. President will have been elected, President Obama’s final days in office will be upon us, and a whole new policy and political landscape will lay ahead. NIIC 2016 will be a crucial opportunity, bringing together the nation's best and brightest practitioners, researchers and stakeholders to strategize about immigrant integration and refugee resettlement from the ground up.

THE VISION

NIIC 2016 will build on 8 years of partnership and innovation in shaping immigrant inclusion and integration in America. Our sustaining vision is that of a collaborative table where policy, business, nonprofit, labor, academic, faith, community, and philanthropic sectors build solutions together.

THE PLAYERS

YOU and a thousand others are NIIC 2016: Bold immigrant rights defenders. Innovative business leaders. Visionary community stakeholders. Dedicated service providers. Forward-thinking policy makers. Expert researchers, students and educators. Imaginative culture shapers. Join us!

In Summer 2016, for the first-time in NIIC's history, we debuted an open Call for Proposals to solicit conference session proposals from the entire NIIC community to help bring fresh ideas and new contributions to NIIC.

We received 118 submissions from all across the country. These included:

80 proposals for Track Sessions - with the greatest percentage of them in the State & Local Strategies and Welcoming Communities track areas

17 proposals for Plenary Sessions

21 proposals for Affinity Group Caucuses

While the NIIC program planning teams will not be able to incorporate every suggestion that was shared, collectively, this input from the NIIC community will play an essential part in shaping the NIIC sessions for 2016. Preliminary information about the NIIC schedule is here. For background information about NIIC 2015 and what has typically been featured at NIIC, please click here
